The Benefits of Pharmacy Technician Training

Are you ready to start your life in a new direction? Start with upgrading your job into a real career with a bright future! Maybe you’ve been working retail and want something more meaningful. Or, you’re tired of jumping from job to job without a real direction. Pharmacy technician training could be your perfect first step!

What’s A Pharmacy Technician?

Pharmacy technicians work with pharmacists to collect and distribute prescriptions to patients. Because it’s such an important role, pharmacy technician training is required. Duties can include speaking with patients, stocking medication, and operating cash registers. Also, technicians can prepare prescriptions and educate consumers about those drugs.

Why You Should Be A Pharmacy Tech

Becoming a pharmacy technician can change your life in so many ways! Here are just three benefits of this smart career choice:

  • Career Stability: There is a high demand for these jobs. Employment is expected to grow by 12 percent between 2016 and 2026. That rate is almost TWICE as fast as all other occupations. Nearly 48,000 new pharmacy tech jobs are expected to open in the U.S., and the unemployment rate is less than 3%.
  • Career Satisfaction: Pharmacy technicians fill and distribute prescriptions to ill customers. That’s no small responsibility! You’d be providing a necessary and much-needed service to thousands of people. You’ll form relationships and help patients heal and feel better. U.S. News and World Report also lists job perks such as upward mobility and schedule flexibility.
  • Career Options: You might be surprised at how many places pharmacy technicians can work! Drug stores of course—but think of all the other retail environments with pharmacies! These can include grocery stores, department stores, and general merchandise stores. (You might even get employee discounts store-wide!) Additionally, pharmacy techs could also work for hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.
