Are You Researching LPN Schools In Louisiana?

LPN Schools In Louisiana—Is It The Right Fit For Me?

Congrats to you! By visiting Delta College’s website and reading this post, you’ve started changing your life. We understand how big a decision this is! Going back to school, even for a short while, can feel pointless—we get it! With all of life’s other pressures, you’re scared to fail. And that’s ok. Just know we are ALREADY so proud of you and are committed to helping you succeed.

Wouldn’t it be nice to say “goodbye” to your dead-end, minimum wage job and start a career? Imagine a job that allows you to support your family and grow professionally. Well, it’s fate that you stumbled across this post. A career as a Practical Nurse may indeed be the answer! LPNs are becoming more and more essential for the healthcare industry. The first step is telling yourself, “enough is enough.” The next step is choosing an LPN school in Louisiana.

OK, I’m Listening—What Does an LPN REALLY Do?

Excellent question—glad you asked! Licensed Practical Nurses work directly with patients in doctor’s offices, hospitals, urgent care clinics, nursing homes, and more. They report to registered nurses and doctors, or more experienced LPNs. Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives. Your work will inform, comfort, and heal patients. Not only can you feel great, but you’ll also be helping others feel great!

Depending on the workplace, your day-to-day routine as an LPN could include:

  • Listening to patient concerns
  • Discussing healthcare issues
  • Keeping patient healthcare records
  • Checking patient vitals to monitor their health
  • Administering basic nursing care
  • Changing bandages and inserting catheters
  • Providing for patients’ comfort
  • Bathing and dressing patients
  • Reporting to nurses and doctors about patient status

Sounds Pretty Cool, But Can It Improve My Quality Of Life?

Another great and important question. But bear with us, we have to get serious for a second. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) tracks vital information on all jobs. The BLS is a federal organization within the U.S. Department of Labor, so they have access to all kinds of data. Here are some LPN facts you might find interesting and helpful:

  • The job outlook for LPNs is at 12%. That means they expect employment to GROW faster than the average of all other jobs. By the time your graduate, tens of thousands of new jobs could be out there waiting for your application!
  • In the United States, the median pay for LPNs is more than $45,000 per year. Remember from high school math that “median” means the middle. So there are LPNs out there making more than $45,000. In Louisiana, that could be enough to move into a nicer place, getting a newer set of wheels, and having extra fun money too!
  • The Bureau even reports on the most common work schedules for LPNs. Most work full time, although part-time positions exist. Remember, patients can have medical needs at any time. Your work schedule could include nights, weekends, and holidays.

The LPN Program Sounds Like A Good Fit! What Do I Do Now?
